I was raised as a Christian, and for most of my life hadn't thought too hard about any of that. During my trip my faith really was tested. Right from the beginning, with all the media and being so busy with the work on the boat most of my normal life, including my faith, fell into the background.

Once I was out on the water it was different. There wasn't the constant craziness of people everywhere, the media, all the work. All that was gone and because of where I was - completely alone in the middle of the ocean - I became probably the closest I have ever been to God.
